So You Want a Sign
By Jeff Banks

Property investors are always looking for signs.

Where should I buy, what will be the next “hotspot”, free standing or unit, growth oriented or
income generating, positive or negatively geared?

The classic 5 Man Electric Band song written by Lee Emmerson said it perfectly “Sign, sign
everywhere a sign, Blocking out the scenery, breaking my mind”. But do investors take notice of
the signs right in front of them?

Do they see, like most property investors, that something that can be touched, felt and seen is
the direction towards wealth and prosperity.

Is it a matter of because they hear Paul Simon suggest in the Sounds of Silence “and the sign
said the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls”, they don’t
know which sign to follow?

But the signs are there. Property can give capital growth and income, and it can give them at
the same time in some instances. It’s the “breaking my mind” that gives too many, time to
pause. The problem is there are just too many signs, too much white noise, polluting the road
ahead. Such noise and confusion then creates walls which some would be investors simply
decide not to even attempt to conquer.

The only sign you really need to consider is the one showing where you want to be and when
you want to be there. After that all you need is for someone to show you how to conquer the
wall standing between you and your goals. Someone like Property Portfolio Solutions.
